U.S. Planes Bring Back Strategic Materials (Received October 19, 11.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 18, Army and Navy planes ferrying personnel and muteriiil to the United Nations’ fighting fronts are now bringing back strategic materials on their return trips, including platinum from tbe Persian Gulf, tungsten ami silk from China, crude rubber from Brazil, and diamonds and mica from South Africa, according to the Office of War Information. • '
