. SISTERS Her Excellency’s Tribute ’’The Leper Asylum at. Makogai, _iu the Fijian Islands, is a model institution which has transformed the lives of men, women and children afflicted with this dread disease, from utter discouragement and sadness to lives of happiness suirounded by care, intelligent medical treatment, love and hope,” said her Exceheiicj, Lady Newall, who opened the garden party held in the convent grounds at Heretauriga on Saturday afternoon,- in aid of the Leper Nursing bisters, ihosc who worked there were truly sisters ot mercy and gave Christian service in one of Its noblest forms. . The lit. Rev. Monsignor Connolly, in introducing Lady Newall, referred.to the splendid work of the Missionary bisters of Mary throughout the Pacific. Islands, and the recent losses sustained by the sisters in the Solomon Islands fighting. The games and stalls, were patronized by a record number of visitors.. Among those who attended were the 1 rime Minister and Mrs. Fraser, Mr. lincent Ward and Mrs. Ward, the mayor and mayoress of Upper.’ Hutt, Miss Eileen Duggan, Captain Keeney, and several ollieei’S ot the United States Services.
