Appointment Of Board
fl.’he personnel of the Waikato Coal Mines Control Board was announced yesterday by the Minister of Mines, Mr. Webb. The members appointed are Mr. H. Morpeth, chairman of the Waikato Colliers’ Association; Mr. Hendry Luke, managing director of Wilton Collieries Limited; Mr. William Parsonage, superintendent of. Glen Afton Collieries; Mr. J. Watson, superintendent of Taupiri Collieries; Mr. J. Devlin, acting-secretary of the United Mine Workers of New Zealand; Mr. fl 1 . 'Hall, secretary of, the Northern Miners’ Union; Mr. C. J. Strongman, superintendent of State Mines, with the Minister of Mines, who will act as chairman. In the absence of the Minister, Mr. C. H. Benney, Un-der-Secretary of Mines, wili act as ebairThe Minister said tie had accepted without hesitation the nominations submitted by the mineowners and had selected two men who had received the greatest support at individual collieries from those nominated toy. the miners. He expressed his belief that the board would work together as a team to produce the maximum quantity of coal while giving the geratest measure of safety to the workmen.
