Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, October 16.

At Government House this morning his Excellency tlie Governor-General presented to Mr, and Mrs. P. 11. Ward, Wanganui, the Victoria Cross which was awarded to their late son. Sergeant J. A. Ward, R.N.Z.A.F.

Wing Commander M. A. F. Barnett, director of meteorological services for Ihe R.N.Z.A.F., is visiting Auckland.

Mr. A. McKenzie, chairman of the Auckland division of the National Party, and Mr. A. W. Grant, divisional secretary, are visiting Wellington.'

Messrs. J. J. Scott (deputy-Chair-man), B. L. Hammond and J. Arthurs, the Wellington Industrial Manpower Committee, have returned to Wellington to commence sittings on Tuesday next.

Major S. G. L'iunington. an Australian, has been appointed Teeliuieal Stores Officer of the Canadian Army. Born in Australia on May 30. 1890, Major Pinulngton served with the A.l.l'’, from 1915 to 1918. In 1939 he was appointed lieutenant in the Canadian Armoured Corps, and in 1941 lie became general staff officer in the Directorate of Military Training.
