ENEMY RALLYING AT GUADALCANAL

Major Battle Likely October 16, 1.10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 15. Commenting on the latest landing of Japanese troops on Guadalcanal Island, which was made from transports covered by naval units, the Associated Press of America says that while Navy Department has made no interpretation of the facts reported in its communique, it is obvious that the Japanese have rallied their forces for a major effort to crush the American offensive in the Solomons. The first objective in such an undertaking would be destructioi and capture of the marine base in Gualalcanal. It seems certain, therefore, that a major battle on land and possibly on the sea, is impending.
