V ice-Regal. Government House. Wellington, October 14. His Excellency tbe Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council Ulis morning.

Tlie Rev. Dr. J. J. North has arrived at Wellington from Auckland. Colonel F. L. G. West, Northern Regional Commissioner for tlie E.P.S.. arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. Mr. A. 11. Larkman. head of the engineering department, Wanganui Technical College, has been elected to full membership of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, London. Cr. F. W. Furkert resumed his seat on the Wellington City Council last evening after a period of leave of absence, and was cordially welcomed on his return.

Crs. W. .1. Gnudin and R. A. Wright will represent: the Wellington City Council at tlie annual meeting of the Public Passenger Transport Association in Auckland next .month.
