CITY WATER SUPPLY
Progress With Schemes
The suggestion that a full statement should be made of the position regarding the city water supply, and' the progress made, if any, with the Hutt Valley scheme, was made by Cr. W. H. Stevens at the meeting of the Wellington City Council lust night. . The mayor, Mr. Hislop, said that extensive investigations had been made, but the engineer’s report was not quite ready for presentation. Tied up with the whole of the developmental proposal was tbe matter of having a scheme to serve the whole of Wellington and the Hutt Valley, including the question of getting Petone and Hutt, city into the water board.
The development of the major gravity scheme had not gone beyond preliminary investigations, but' the Whakatiki scheme was well under way, and after the war there should be no obstacle to going ahead. Plans were being prepared and information obtained.
