GOOD JAP WEAPONS
NEW YORK, October 11. There is nothing flimsy about, captured Japanese material, according to the United Press correspondent at Marine Corps headqquarters in the Solomons. The machineguns are of the latest aircooled design, and either of European construction or an exact duplicate. The flame-throwers are modern, with a range of 40 feet. The one-man light machineguns are equal to the best American in performance and construction.
Spare radio tubes were packed in mahogany boxes, which were masterpieces of cnbinetmnking. Each tube was cradled in a sponge of rubber moulded to tit the contours of the glass. Wrecked Zero lighters, from propeller to tail-skid, were found to be expertly built of the best materials and assembled with great care and skill. The Nipponese military observers attached to Embassies throughout the world did their jobs well. Incorporated in each weapon are the best devices obtainable from the different models used both by their allies and their enemies.
