AMATEUR SWIMMING

Wellington Centre

Th'e Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, at its forty-first annual meeting last night, decided to open the season at the Thorndon Baths, on November 26. In moving the adoption of the report, the president, Mr. V. L. Allan, said that it devolved on those who were left behind to do their best to keep the sport going. Taking all in all, the sport last season had been kept going well. They were indebted to the women, who had helped to keep the water polo competitions going. It was a matter for congratulation that the centre had issued hist season 2331 certificates.

The motion was seconded by Mr. 1). T. Woodfield.

Mr. W. Gerrie said he thought that the educational officer should keep iu closer touch with centre officials.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. It was decided 'that the admission charges cm polo nights should be 3d. for players and juniors, and 6d. for spectators; that in future the centre should conduct Wellington championships to hold the annual harbour race for the I’eck Shield on February .1.3; to hold a tournament on December .10 to select candidates for the New Zealand junior, intermediate, and women’s championships.
