NEW RATION BOOKS

“O” Coupons For Clothing

Coupon books which are to be issued next Monday—six weeks earlier than originally scheduled —for. the second half of the rationing yearj will be handed over on production of the old ration book, which, however, will be retained by the holder in order to keep unused coupons till they are required for purchases. .For the second half of the Rationing year, the “O” coupons are to be used for clothing.and footwear. “M” coupons- from the first book can be carried over for use till the end of May next in conjunction with the “O” coupons in the second ration book. A full statement will be issued in the course of a day or two dealing with the issue of the new ration book, and the use of the coupons therein.

iSugar coupons, for which the registration of consumers is required, will be cancelled, instead of being cut out, as has been the -past practice, after the issue of the new books. Under this system each retailer is placed on a quota based on the number of registered customers on his sugar list. Cancellation can be carried by the retailer in ink, by rubber stamp, or the method best suited to his business. This also will apply -to large residential establishments such as hotels, which deal direct with wholesalers.
