ACTING AIR COMMODORE
Promotion Of Group Captain Buckley
The promotion of Group Captain M. W. Buckley, M.8.E., R.N.Z.A.F., to the acting rank of air commodore, as from August 1. is contained in the current Gazette. Air Commodore Buckley has been acting in Air Commodore R. Goddard’s place while the latter is in the United States on official business. Air Commodore Buckley has .hem operational commands in the Dominion since his return from Britain in October, 1941. He had left New Zealand in June, 1937, to do two years exchange with a Royal Air Force officer, and after the outbreak of war was appointed to command No. 75 Squadron, famous New Zealand bombing unit. Later he commanded a station from which this squadron and another Wellington bomber unit operated.
