Police Patrol Fired On

BELFAST, September 5. Several men ambushed a police patrol at a crossroads at Strabane in Northern Ireland, and shot dead a policeman and wounded two special constables, one of whom subsequently died. A later message says that the battle lasted 15 minutes, and hundreds of rounds were fired. A wounded constable continued firing as be lay in the road.
