MEMORIAL SERVICE
Late Lieut. H. F. Bollard
A memorial service for Lieutenant, 11. F. Bollard, a member of the Karorl Home Guard, who was on duty iu au Air Force plane which went missing during operations recently, was field in St. Mary's Church, Karorl, yesterday morning. The congregation included about 250 members of the Karori Home Guard, representatives of the Fortress Command and of the Headquarters of Group 5, and relatives of the late Lieutenant. Bollard. . Tho lesson from Revelation, chapter vii, verse 9 to the end, was read by Guardsman A. W. Reed. Guardsman Moore played the organ. Hymns were ‘‘Abide With Me,” “On the Resurrection Morning” and “Lead, Kindly Light.” The service was conducted by tho Rev. F. M. Kemptborne. As a Home Guardsman, Lieutenant Bollard had done his part in the cause of liberty and freedom just as much as those who had gone away to fight, he said. Every Home Guardsman had a very important part to play in defending not only the home country but also his own home and the home of bls own soul. Wherever evil was found it was his duty to attack it. Lieutenant Bollard’s comrades could offer a tangible memorial to one who drew his inspiration from God if they did something definite to establish the liberty and freedom, for which they were working, by setting out to guard their own country, their own homes and their own souls from evil.
