Work, War And Golf
Sir, — I would point out to “Caddie Master” and the Licensed Victuallers that they can be us mistaken as “Caddie.” I live close to a golf links, and I take note of many doings there. On Tuesday (publicans’ day), I counted 3G parked cars near the shed, and there were more at the golf-house. AU these cars came from Wellington, and only three of them had gas producers. On Sunday (30tb), 14 ears were so parked, and only one had a gas producer. So we see that on the two days about 120 gallons of petrol went up in smoke. It does not concern .me when or how this petrol was obtained, but I agree with "Caddie” that the money could and should have been put to better use, especially since tradespeople canont deliver any stores to us at Haywards because of shortage of petrol. —I urn, etc., NIBLICK. * Haywards, September 1.
