THREAT TO N.Z. SEEN AS REMOTE
Mr. Willkie’s Opinion
(Official War Correspondent, N.Z.E.F.) CAIRO, September 3.
Mr. Wendell Willkie, in a special message to New Zealand, said: “While the threat of a Japanese attack on New Zealand is remote, the'threat to Australia is not yet over.” New Guinea was the danger-point, he said, but that would soon disappear when the weight of the American forces In all arms of war continued to increase.
“I am not a professional strategist, but I think that, with the growing weight of American aid in all theatres of war, and specially in the Pacific, New Zealand can be reassured,” he Said. “America is doing everything to win the war, and America will always help New Zealand.” MR. WILLKIE’S PLANS CAIRO, September 3. Mr. Wendell Willkie said he was going to Moscow with a special message from President Roosevelt for M. Stalin, and thence to China to see Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek.
