WAIROA TRAGEDY
Police Still Search For Murderer
Dominion Special Service.
WAIROA, Sept. 4
Though exhaustive inquiries are being made into the Wairoa Salvation Army Hall mystery, there is no news vet of the arrest of the person responsible for the deaths of the Smyths, whose bodies were found in the hall 15 days ago. The police are up against a very difficult proposition because of the lapse of-time (between the estimated date of the outrage and the date of discovery. Police say they are receiving every co-operation from the public. As the result of appeals in the Press and church pulpits, the police have been inundated with information, much of which is irrevelant, but which may be woven into a pattern that may yet lead to finding the perpetrator. General opinion ie that the task will be long and arduous.
