INCREASED DAIRY PRICE

The Australian Government’s negotiation with Britain for increased dairy produce prices for the coming season was mentioned last month, and shortly after it was announced that Britain had granted increases, which, in New Zealand currency, amounted to 3/9 per cwt. of cheese and 0/ < per cwt. of butter. The increases were explained as grunted to New Zealand ou account of the. change-back from buttei to cheese. I have yet to learn whether such increases have been granted Australia, and. if so, was the • same reason given. The Minister of Marketing has not mentioned other producing countries, as in the case of the meat and wool increases, granted earlier. This raises a point ns to whether the increases are on account of the change-over, or whether they might be part of a general Australasian adjustment.
