Industries, 47/9: Associated News, 9/3, Tooheys 26/-; Commercial Bank of 'Sydney, £l6/12/-: Howard Smith, 20/IJ. Australian Gas Light Co. The Directors of the Australian Gas Light Company have declared an interim dividend for the half-year ended June du of IS per cent, on the A and B shares. The dividend was payable -on iSeptem'ber 3. Gold Mining The Maori Gold dredge returned 30oz. for 127 hours from 14,600 yards. The Blackball Creek dredge last week returned 05 ounces for 110 hours. A profit of £1795, Insufficient to allow a dividend, is disclosed in the accounts of Alexander Mines, Limited, Reefton, for the year ended May 31, and compares with £1896 last year and £268 in 1940. Ihe credit at the bank, plus gold in transit, with other cash items, totalled £3994 and creditors were owed £204. During the year £403 was paid as gold duty and £617 for war tax on gold. Total, production of gold was valued at' £10,165 from !13M> tons of ore, compared with £14.009 from 2543 tons the previous year. The reduced output is attributed solely to shortage or labour.
