UNEXPECTED RESULT
Value Of Nursing Display
Though the nursing display which has been held in Wellington during the past two weeks was designed merely to create interest among schoolgirls, the appeal has already borne fruit. The organizers did not expect immediate results, but last week additional applications were received at Wellington Hospital by girls seeking to take up nursing training. The display was arranged as part ot a more extensive programme to encourage recruits for the nursing profession and th>s unexpected response is considered gratifying. It is hoped that several short radio talks will be given in the near future as another feature in the wider programme, and it is expected that Miss N. Lambic, Director of Nursing Services, will be the first speaker. A Health Department official said that through the interest created by the recruiting programme, it was hoped to oispel some ideas about nursing and training which, though perhaps applicable in one or two cases, did not apply to the majority of hospitals in New Zealand.
