RECREATION HUTS

Further Construction Authorized

Expansion of the home defence forces has called for a considerable increase in the number of recreation huts where men may spend some of their off-duty time at camps and stations. Over 200 of these have been built from funds provided by the National Patriotic Board, and the number was added to yesterday, when, at a meeting of the board’s standing committee, approval was given for the construction of 44 more.

Though “hut” is the official term, it is something of a misnomer, for in the larger camps the recreation huts are definitely in the category of buildings. A proportion of them are not permanent structures. They are bolted together.and may readily be taken down and moved should it be decided to transfer a camp or station to another site.
