HEAVY CARGO PLANES
Trial Of American Plan
NEW YORK, September 1.
The War- Production Board has determined that the plan of Mr. 11. J. Kaiser, the west coast shipbuilder, for tlie production of heavy cargo-carry-ing planes shall have a trial, in spite of the reported antipathy of the armed services, says the Washington correspondent of the “New York Times.” Informed officials asserted that if aluminium is unprocurable because of army and navy priorities for combat planes, the' War Production Board would experiment with steel. The board likewise is prepared to build cargo planes by placing sub-contracts for sections in small shops throughout the country, after which the Kaiser Company would assemble them.
