FERRIED BOMBER TO EGYPT
All-New Zealand Crew

Sergeant I’ilot L. C. Webster, Auckland, has returned to England after ferrying a Wellington bomber to Egypt. He was second pilot in an all-New Zealand crew. The others were Sergeants Fiesst and J. D. Henderson (address not stated), Rowell, Taihape, J. Henry, ’Wellington, and V. Brooks, Christchurch.
They reached Egypt from England in 23 hours’ flying time, but remained some time in Malta at the time when 57 Germans were shot down in one day. Webster said: “We were underground more than on top that day, but still managed io see many marvellous dogfights.” ■Webster visited the New Zealand Army base camp in Egypt before returning, via Capetown, where he spent a fortnight. He said: “It was a great trip.”
