PERSONAL

Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, September 3. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral presided at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Patriotic Fund this morning. Later, their Excellencies the Gov-ernor-General and Lady Newall, attended by Captain H. G. Hclmore, were present at the Intercessory Service in the Majestic Theatre. This afternoon his Excellency received Sir James Grose, Dominion president of the'Boy Scouts’ Association.

Mr. S. Ritchie has been reappointed a conciliation commissioner.

Mr. M. F. Vigeveno has been appointed Consul of the Netherlands for New Zealand and "Western Samoa. Mr. J. N. Greenland, general manager of the Union Company, is at present visiting Australia. Mr. C. L. Hunter, Conciliation Commissioner, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday.

Mr. J. Sayegh, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, is visiting Wellington.

Mr. X. 11. Russell. Wellington, has been made a Fellow of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand.

Mr. V. Duff, secretary of the Taranaki Employers’ Association, returned to*New Plymouth yesterday after a short visit to Wellington.

Colonel F. L. G. West, Northern Regional Commissioner of Civil Defence, arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday.

Captain Moritz W. Vaumuud, superintendent for the Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission to New Zealand, arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland.

The Rev. F. 11., Robertson, Director of the Campaign for Christian Order, left ’Wellington for Christchurch yesterday by air to arrange the first public meeting of the campaign. He will return to Wellington on Thursday.
