Manoeuvre In Desert Attack

Latest dispatches from the desert state that Field Marshal Rommel, after an advance of eight miles through the Allied minefields near El Himeimat in the southern sector of the El Alamein front, has swung one column to' the north-east and another due north toward Riiweisat Ridge. The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent with the Eighth Army says that Rommel is apparently seeking our main tank force which General Montgomery is holding in reserve till the German columns have been weakened by artillery and air attacks.
