WASHINGTON, September 1. ■Representative Holland told the House of Representatives today that a report on the Battle of Midway island, written by Mr. Stanley Johnston and published by the'Chicago “Tribune,” informed the Japanese that the American Navy knew tae Japanese naval code. r lhe Japanese Nayy changed the code three days alter the Chicago “Tribune,” the New York "Daily News” aud the Washington limes Herald” had published Mr. Johnstons S Mr. Holland said that the code enabled tlie L’niled States to know 111 advance the names and dispositions of t ie Japanese ships involved. The article later gave tlie secret away, and thus by uiitlnnkiug misuse of the freedom ot the Press the “Tribune” deprived its side of a priceless military advantage which . might have saved the lives of many American boys, he declared.
