Vice-Regal.

.Government House, Wellington, September 2. His Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council this morning. This afternoon his Excellency received his worship the mayor of Dunedin. Mr. A. 11. Allen. Ministerial. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, will leave Wellington today for the South Island. Tho Hon. I’. C. Webb. Minister of Labour, will return to Wellington this morning from Auckland.

Colonel F. L. G. West, Northern Regional Commissioner of Civil Defence, arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. Mr. C. Clabburn has been appointed governing director of Makower, McBeath and Co., Ltd., Wellington, and Mr. H. L. Everinghain has been appointed managing director. The Rev. 11. Squires, Wellington City Mlssioner, has taken up military service as chaplain to the forces.

The Rev. J. C.. W. Mutter, vicar of Opunake, has . been appointed vicar of the parochial district of Eketahuna, and tbe Rev. K. Nicholson, Wanganui, will take his place as vicar of Opunake.
