New Mutton Grade
Sir, —The No. 98 Price Order issued by the Price Tribunal this month creates a “New Standard Grade.” Viz: “Hogget” or “Teg” Mutton. The tribunal defines the new grade as “Mutton derived from a' young sheep of either sex, showing two prominent incisor teeth.” The value set is Id. per lb. in excess of mutton, 4-tooth or older. This entirely new grade in the New Zealand Meat Trade conforms to long established British standards. —I am, etc., SAM S. TIMBS. Wanganui, August 29.
