The belief that in suppliers’ costs lay the solution of the vexed question of high vegetable prices was expressed by Mr. Arthur Turner, of Turners and Growers, Ltd., in an address at Auckland. “Nine-tenths of the trouble,” Mr. Turner said, “is through faulty supply." lie urged the organization of reasonable supply of the four main vegetable lines — potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbages—as tiie main essential, instead of criticism of either the auctioneer or the retailer. Neither, he declared, was making a big profit. The Government should call n conference of producers, distributors and retailers to make sure that these main vegetables were kept in plentiful supply.
