INVASION OF EUROPE
Start In Italy Suggested
(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received September 1,11.55 p.m.)
CANBERRA, Sept. 1.
the theory that an invasion of Central Europe might best be tackled through Italy’ and the southern Balkans is advanced by Admiral d’Adgenlieu, Fighting French leader in the Pacific. While, in bis opinion, a Channel invasion would liberate northern France an dthe Lowlands, he thought it would be a difficult base for an invasion of Germany because of the enemy’s defensive strength in the west. It was of major importance to Germany.
Italy should be pushed right out of Africa. If the Allies still possess the initiative at Dakar they should act there immediately.
