COSTLY AIR RAID ON GUADALCANAL

WASHINGTON, August 30.

The Navy .Department, in, a communique, says that, the Japanese twice raided our positions on Guadalcanal Island in the Solomons yesterday. The first attack was made by six planes, while the second, eight hours later, was made by 18 bombers. Three enemy bombers and four Zeros were shot down, while no American planes were lost and the damage to our positions was only minor.
