Area On Thursday

The mayor of Wellington, Mr. Hislop, as chief warden of the city announced yesterday that blackout trials throughout the whole of the metropolitan area, including the Hutt Valley and the eastern bays, would take place on Thursday next. . , ~ , J 4. (Due to certain reasons, he stated, it was not desirable to hold the trials at a later date. The date selected happened to fall on the night of the day set aside for national prayer, but, in order not to cause inconvenience to those attending these services, some of which he understood were starting as late as 7.45 p.m., the alarm would not sound earlier than would give reasonable opportunity to those attending the services to return to their homes.
