CHURCHILL AUCTIONS IN NOVEMBER

Katherine Mansfield Items

The Churchill auctions of books, manuscripts and pictures will be held in the first week of November and the catalogue is being prepared, said the.honorary Dominion organizer, Mr. Pat Lawler, yesterday. In works representing New Zealand artists the collection is particularly strong, largely due to the efforts of Mrs. Murray Fuller. The committee is anxious to make as comprehensive a collection as possible of books, letters and other material dealing with Katherine Mansfield. For this section one rare item recently received was a copy of ‘‘Recollections and Reminiscences of Sir Harold Beauchamp,” father of the famous New Zealand writer. Fewer than 100 copies of this were printed for private circulation. Letters from the late Sir Harold Beauchamp referring to his daughter have also been presented; One of the largest donors has been ■ Miss M. Adams, of Silverstream, who has presented over 50 books mid objects of art, including a painting “The Mandolin Player,” by H. von Harkomer, R.A. Many waler-colours of C. M. Worsley are also numbered in the collection.
