Reported Agreement
U.S. ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Received August 30, 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 29. General Marshall, UJS. Army Chief of Staff, is mentioned in dispatches from both Washington and abroad as the probable choice for supreme commander of the United Nations second front forces, says the “New York Times.” Berlin radio announced that Mr. Churchill, President Roosevelt and M. Stalin'had agreed to appoint General Marshall commander-in-chief of the invasion forces. The “New York Times” Washington correspondent says Mr. Roosevelt held an important conference at the White
Hou.se attended by Admiral Leahy, General Marshall, Admiral King, Lieut.-General Arnold, Mr. Donald Nelson and Mr. Hopkins. Though no one would comment, it is believed that they discussed tying production more closely to the strategy for victory.
