INQUESTS
A number ol inquests were held in Wellington yesterday by the Coroner. Mr. (}. J,. Mellish. The death of Patrick O'Neill, linesman, on August 20. was found to have been caused by a fracture of the base of the skull whim he fell from a telegraph pole in Thorndcn Quay. Noelitie Frances McMillan, waitress, aged 20, was found to hare died from fracture of the left side of the skull and extensive lacerations of the brain, as a result of a fall from her bicycle in Aro Streel last Monday. The evidence showed that she had mounted her machine in Norway SI reel, which is a steep incline, and had lost eonlrol. Near the bottom of Norway Street, she had swerved to avoid a child .•mil had fallen on the kerbing after turning into Aro Street. Frank William Berry, tin employee of the YVellington Harbour Board, aged GO, was found to have died from multiple injuries and internal injuries resulting from ti fall of approximately feet, on August IS. 'l’he death of .Tames Bruce Bain, aged 36, a waterside worker, on August 20, was found by the Coroner to have resulted from a fractured skull and other injuries received when he fell from the deck of an overseas vessel into a hold.
