TOY PLANE CRASH
Flames Set Fire To Washhouse
Two young men of the times, aged about 10, playing in a State house in Strathmore Park yesterday morning, apparently decided that they had missed something of life when they had reached such a mature age without having seen an aeroplane come down in flames. They had read about it often, but they had never seen it happen. Prompt to' remedy this gap in their experience, they dipped’a toy aeroplane in benzine, set a match to it, and threw it into the air. The aeroplane quickly obliged by coming down in flames,. and the washhouse where they were playing equally quickly went up in flames. The fire brigade arrived in time to stop the blaze spreading to the rest of the house, but the washhouse and its contents were severely damaged by fire, the adjoining kitchenette was damaged by smoke and heat. The incident occurred at about 11.30 a.m. in a house at 10 Glamis Avenue, occupied by Mr. Frederick Thomas Williams.
