SIR EARLE PAGE
Seat In Australian War Cabinet
CANBERRA, August 27
Sir Earle Page has been given a seat in the Australian War Cabinet. He will have no vote, but will otherwise take full part in the Cabinet’s work. This development is of considerable political importance since it is the first time that an Opposition member has been admitted to the Cabinet.. Sir Earle Page will also be a member of the War Advisory Council. He was Commonwealth representative in the United Kingdom War Cabinet. Despite recent suggestions of lack of harmony among the members of the Advisory War Council, representatives of both the Government and the Opposition evinced a desire at today’s meeting for a continuance of the coun-
cil. Mr. Curtin described the proceedings as having been characterised by complete concentration on war problems, and added that the discussions were most helpful and harmonious. The censorship issue, on which the Government and the Opposition recently clashed, was not raised.
