Applications will be received at the Education Board Office, Abel Smith Street, Wellington, up to October 1, from applicants desirous of entering Training College in 1943. The qualifications required are:— Division “A” —Minimum qualification, University Entrance or School Certificate. Candidates who are sitting for these examinations in 1942 may also apply, but must clearly understand that preference will be given to those who are fully qualified at the date of application. Other things being equal, preference will be. given to candidates with academic qualifications higher than the minimum, e.g., Higher Leaving Certificate. Training College Entrance, Sections of University Degrees. Division “C”—A University Degree. Candidates may apply in anticipation of completing their degree this year. Division "B” —Division “B” candidates will forward their applications direct to the Director of Education, Education Department, Government Buildings, Wellington. Special Course in Home Science —To assist in overcoming the shortage of Domestic Science teachers, arrangements have been made to train about 20 students so as to give them the opportunity of qualifying for a special Home Crafts Teacher’s Certificate. Part of the two-year course will be taken at Dunedin Training College in conjunction witli the University of Otago School of Home Science and part at approved post-primary schools in various parts of New Zealand. The qualifications for admission to this special course and the allowances payable are exactly the same ns for Training College Students. Candidates who wish to be considered for admission to this special course are invited to indicate their preference in the form of application lodged with the Board. The allowance payable to Training College Students will be at the rate of £7O per annum, but a student who is obliged to live away from his usual place of residence in order to attend a Training College shall be paid a further £3O per annum as boarding allowance. Cost of Living Bohns will be paid. Applicants must 'be not less than 17 years of age on February 28. 1943. Candidates whose parents reside in other districts must apply to the Secretary of the Education Board nearest their homes. Forms of application are now available at the above-mentioned office. W. I.
