Presentation From Old Pupils And Parents A farewell to Lieut-Colonel G. J. MeNaught, who recently returned from overseas, was tendered by the Parents _ Association and Old Pupils’ Association in the assembly hall of the Hutt A alley High School recently. Colonel McNaiigbt was a foundation member of the staff of the High School, which was founded in IJ-o. More than 200 parents, old pupils, and friends were present, and the guest ot the evening, who received a warm welcome, was congratulated on Ins appointment as beadmaster of the New Plymouta High School. Mr. McNaught, with Mrs. McNaught and their family, will leave shortly for New Plymouth. Mr. J. N. Millard, principal of tae High School, introduced Mr. D. A. Ewen, representing the Board of Governors, who referred to Mr. McNaught’s fine services to hif country, and to his vrork as a valued member of the staff of the High'School. Flying Officer Hepworth, president of the Old Pupils’ Association, also spok's, and with Mrs. J. AA. Andrews’, president of the Parents’ Association, asked Mr. McNaught to accept a desk as a mark of appreciation from both associations.
Mr. McNaught said he bad looked up many former high school boys in the Middle East, and spoke in praise of them personally, and of the splendid service they were rendering their country. He referred to the dance held at the High School to provide funds for a reunion dinner of the high school boys in the Middle East, saying he had not been able to finalize arrangements for it, but Mr. Marks had the arrangements in band, and the dinner would be held as soon as it was possible to arrange. Mr. McNaught was able to give personal information of former High School boys overseas to a number of parents who were present.
