Government War Loan The Reserve Bank announced yesterday that since Monday, August 10, more than £1.600,000 has been received by the bans as advance subscriptions to the next war TTie A.M.P. Society on Monday lodged £250,000, and many of the other insurance offices and nnancial institutions have made substantial contributions. AU amounts received will be applied to the next war loan which the Prime Minister has announced will be issued later in the year. Argus & Australasian, Ltd. Courtaulds, Ltd.

Directors of Courtaulds, Ltd., invested In 24 per cent. National War Bonds almost £28.000,000 received from the Treasury for the sale of the shares of the company s subsidiary American Viscose Corporation. The necessarv and urgent political gesture which the Courtaids sale constituted cost Great Britain about £-13,300.060. On the other side of the account, there was the incalculable benefit which the deal conferred in expediting lease-lend arrangements. From Courtaulds viewpoint the award was less than adequate, judged by -the company’s valuation of £29,000,060 for American Viscose capital Involved In the deal.
