Britain’s Plum Crop. The plum crop in Britain, which wits estimated to amount to 100,000 tons this year, will be nearer 120,000 tons, of which 45,(M10 tons are now being harvested in Kent by soldiers, women and children. Very little of the crop will be wasted. About 70,000 tons go on to the market, 20,000 tons will be made into jam and the remainder will be pulped for jammaking later. Not Wanted in Army. Eugene Pape, 73 inches tall and 631 b. in weight, formerly a “human skeleton” in :i circus, has been refused enlistment in the American Army. .
Screen Stars Enlist. The screen star Henry I’otuiu lias enlisted in the United States Navy as an apprentice seaman. Tyrone Power was sworn in as a private in the Marine Corps.
