UNAVAILING SEARCH
Aircraft And Occupants
No trace was found yesterday of the aircraft which was reported -missing after co-operation work with a Home Guard unit on Sunday morning. The occupants of the aircraft were Pilot Officer. M. I. Elliott and Lieutenant H. F. Bollard, both of Wellington. Hundreds of Home Guardsmen, together with members of the Army and of the Lands and Survey Department, with numerous machines of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, were engaged in yesterday’s search. It covered a •\vide area of the district in winch it ■is thought the machine might' have , cojne down. The Home Guardsmen engaged were from the unit to which Lieutenant Bollard was attached, and from other adjacent units, and the Army help was substantial. Many reports have been received from people who believed they saw the missing aeroplane on Sunday, and all have • been investigated.
