INSTABILITY IN YOUTH

Effect Of Times Of Stress "Oue always finds a tendency to lack of stability in times of stress,” said the director of the Wellington Technical College, Mr. K. G. Ridlitig, in presenting,a report on the instability of present day youth to the college board last night. "It is net confined to this college, it is common to all the colleges in Wellington. "The boys become bored with themselves and before long mischief somtimes arises from their truancy,” he said, "and some of the delinquency among young people today begins in the truancy, too.” The report suggested that the presence in the city of visiting servicemen was a disturbing factor, and the uncertainty of the boys as to the future after they finished at the college also had its. effect. Another part of the report recorded that the attendance of students al. the college was only oo Iter cent. of its enrolled pupils. It was suggested by members that the decreased attendance was particularly marked in the evening classes, and that this was due to fatigue through working overtime as well as overtime itself. The director was asked to consult bis staff about measures to interest, the pupils out' of college hours, and to submit a report.
