Training Scheme Details

A course of lectures for youth workers is to begin in Wellington shortly. lie peculiar problems and difficulties ot the times have troubled those concerned for sound character education in young people. Many leaders have felt keen y their need for further training that would, eualvlc them to meet the position, or for a refresher course. With this in mind the Wellington Christian Youth Council, representing the youth leadership of most I’rotestant churches and having the backing of the Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A., boy scouts and other community groups, is coinbining to conduct an intensive youth leadership training scheme. The course of study, which starts on September ,15, will be given at the Y.M.C.A. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. for six weeks. A panel of competent speakers will give lectures and practical demonstrations on physical education, group work and its reJiitioiisliip to the community and to the. individual, adolescent psychology, teehiiique of leading group discussions, sex education, ilranni. hnnilerafls anil worship. The course is part of n three yea r leadership training scheme. It is anticipated that ultimately diplomas will be issued to those who complete the full course.
