U.S. Bomber’s Feat. The United States War Department announces that an army heavy bomber sell t out. to take photographs and attacked near Wake Island, shot down four out ot six Japanese fighters.
Arirval in London. Comomdore W. E. Parry, formerly Chief of the N.Z. Naval Staff, and captain of the Achilles in the River Hate battL, has arrived in Loudon. He spent a fortnight in Washington contacting members of the United States Navy Department.
Third Man Dies. ' A third member ot the crew ot the Australian trawler recently shelled by a Japanese submarine has died.
New Russian Plane. The Soviet news agency refers to a new plane which Russian factories are turning out in large numbers, the plane weighs less than the old model in spite ol heavier armament, and it is also better streamlined.
Nazis Over Iceland. Siti'de German bombers are rrequentlj visiting Iceland in order to watch tor eastbound convoys and to take weather observations. A German bomber on Tuesday (lew over the west of Iceland ami machinegtmncd an unoccupied lighthouse, and two hostile planes on Wednesday crossed the Month and south-east coasts. Actions in Channel. There has been a considerable increase during the past few weeks in engagements between German E-boats and trawlers and British light coastal forces. It is pointed out in London that willi the increased supply of British light craft it is now possible to turn them to offensive uses, as well as to convoying, aim that, they are keeping enemy craft away from British waters.
