V.C. PRISONER CHAIRED
(Received August 6, 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 5. A letter to the Red Cross from a comrade reveals that Sergeant J. B. Hinton, who received the ribbon of . the Victoria Cross by post while a prisoner in a German hospital, was chaired by his comrades at a special parade. The letter stated : “We had a surprise parade here last night. There were many wild guesses about the reason when we heard that the German commanding officer was attending. He read the official notice, in which His Majesty awarded Hmton the Victoria Cross. "I will not attempt to describe how the New, Zealander was carried around the camp."
