JAILED FOR THEFT

Man Described As Drug Addict Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, August 5. Described by the police ns a drug addict and a well-known thief, Bernard Luks, aged 40. male nurse, Napier, was sentenced to imprisonment on a charge of theft by Mr. Miller, 'S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, today. Luks, who was stated by the police to have 34 previous convictions for various offences, appeared on 10 charges of theft. He was represented by Mr. C. W. Nash, and pleaded guilty to all the charges. Tn sentencing Luks to three montlis’ imprisonment with hard labour on the’ charge of the theft of perfume, and ordering him to come up for sentence if called on within 12 months, the magistrate said that he was of the view that accused would not have committed the offences if he had not been in the habit of taking drugs.
