The British people accept war restrictions and hardships uncomplainingly and have never lost confidence in the outcome of the conflict, says Mr. Irvine Douglas, manager-editor of the Australian Associated Dress, London, who is now on a short visit to Australia. There was a feeling of cold anger, and stoicism mixed with an amazing sense of humour, Mr. Douglas said. The people of Britain now realized the great importance of being silent about war news and war movements. ‘‘Since coming back to Australia _ I have been amazed at the amount of indiscriminate loose talk,” he said. ‘During the past few days, 1 have been told as ordinary information some of the most intimate military secrets regarding troop movements and military operations..
