News And Notes Dance For Soldiers’ Parrels. The social club of Macduffs, Lowery Hutt branch, held a dance at Lower Hutt recently in aid of parcels for former employees serving oversens. These dances are held monthly, and the proceeds of the next event, to he held on September 2, are to go to patriotic funds. Mr. W. Longman acted as master of ceremonies. Tlie chairman was Miss I’. Hunt, the secretary and treasurer Miss L. Yewen, the committee being Mrs. W. Longman, and Miss J. Watson. New Zealand Aid Appreciated. Copies of a “Thank You” booklet, issued by the Women’s 4 oluntary Services for Civil Defence in London, have been received by branches of the Cross Society in New Zealand. These booklets have been compiled from personal records of child war victims who have found asylum and regained nor-mally-balanced lives at war nurseries in the provinces. These establishments are financed by overseas Red Cross funds, and appreciation of the great monetary help sent from New Zealand and its consequent administration ■ among English civilians has been expressed m a covering letter addressed to New Zealand Red Cross headquarters.
