BUILDING AT STANDSTILL IN WANGANUI
WANGANUI. August 4. The value of buildings for which permits were issued in Wanganui for the first seven mon tbs of this year shows a decrease of 470,142, compared with the corresponding period last year. The value of the permits issued last month amounted to only £303, which is £12,340 lower than for July lust. year. This year’s figures so far are £17.009. compared with £87,2-11. for the first seven nioiitlis of last year. Except fur small jobs, building operations in Wanganui have been practically suspended during the past five mouths, most of the firms being engaged in essential war work in other places.
