Convoying Shows Results FUTURE OF UNITED STATES
NAVY (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.' (Received August 5,1.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 4.
The Democratic Party leader in the House of Representatives, Mr. McCormack, in a broadcast today, said that tlie United States-now had the largest navy in the world. He added that before the end of the war it would embrace one million men. .
In a speech a t Halifax, the Canadian Minister of the Navy, Mr. McDonald, disclosed that the Canadian Navy possessed between 400 and 500 ships, manned by 41,000 men, while 100 more ships would be added' before the end of this year. Admiral Van Hook told a Press conference in Washington that the convoy system had effectively curbed the submarine menace in the Caribbean. July was particularly free from effective submarine attacks.
